WORLD DAY FOR THE GRANDPARENTS AND ELDERLY FAMILY PRAYERS SERVICE

Sunday the 25th July 2021 marks the First World Day for the Grandparents and Elderly as promulgated by His Holiness, Pope Francis, on the 22nd June 2021. In his message to grandparents and the elderly title I am with you always, the Pope Francis said, “Even at the darkest moments, as in these months of pandemic, the Lord continues to send angels to console our loneliness and to remind us: “I am with you always”. He says this to you, and he says it to me. That is the meaning of this Day, which I wanted to celebrate for the first time in this particular year, as a long period of isolation ends and social life slowly resumes. May every grandfather, every grandmother, every older person, especially those among us who are most alone, receive the visit of an angel!”

But, unfortunately, owing to Covid-19 restrictions imposed in some of our countries which include a ban on religious gatherings most people won’t be able to celebrate this day at Holy Mass in churches. As a result people are encouraged to have home liturgies to mark this important day.

Radio Veritas will broadcast the Mass for Grandparents and the Elderly at 13:00 on the day.

Attached below is one of the suggestions for the home liturgies on Sunday 25th July 2021.
