Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

On behalf of the SACBC I would like to extend my deepest condolences on the tragic deaths of Fr. Owen Wilcock (Port Elizabeth Diocese) and Fr. Sibusiso Zulu (Eshowe Diocese). Our heartfelt prayers and deepest condolences go out to the families and friends of both Priests.

To the staff and seminarians of St. John Vianney Seminary, the clergy, religious and laity of the Dioceses where they served and to all who knew and loved them, I send my prayers and condolences.

Nothing can prepare us for the death of a loved one, especially being caught off guard by a tragic accident. With all deaths, there is a loss, and with every loss, there will be grief. Grief is a necessary part of our healing, we may feel hopeless at times however we have the assurance of the Word of God; “We want you to be quite certain, brothers, about those who have fallen asleep, to make sure that you do not grieve for them, as others do who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and that in the same way God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 1Thess 4:13-14.” My prayer is that we all find peace with God’s comfort during this difficult time.

May the souls of Fr. Owen Wilcock and Fr. Sibusiso Zulu through the mercy of God rest in peace.

I would also like to extend my prayerful support to the families, friends and dioceses of the injured priests, Fr. John Selemela and Fr. Ricardo Smuts. May the healing presence of our Lord and Saviour come upon them both.
