Watch and Listen Fr Patrick Rakeketsi of SACBC today on Newsroom Africa channel 405, Time 8pm. He will be talking on the SACBC Programs with UN Women on the Tavern Owners, as a response to Gender Based Violence.

Violence in many faces has been a big problem in our society. Instead of the problem coming to an end it continues to escalate with a very high rate. What is more worrying is the rate in which violence against women and children is hitting the highest numbers and South Africa is one of the highest in world.

One may question the nature of our democracy we are experiencing, whether 25 years down the line we can be proud that we are going towards the right direction or not if there are so many ills in our society, including violence against vulnerable people.

Catholic Church in partnership with other stakeholders, including UN Women has been in the forefront for many years to make sure that the ills or our society come to an end, so that we live in a country whereby each one of us can live in peace without any kind of fear.

Working with Tavern owners to fight against gender based violence has been one of the most successful programs of SACBC, recognized in the whole world.

At 8pm this evening Newsroom Africa DSTV Channel 405 is the relevant channel to relax and watch, as Fr Patrick Rakeketsi will represent the Catholic Church on the discussions on the issue of Gender Based Violence and how the Catholic Church is responding to the issue through different ways, one being through the Tavern Owners Project.
