The funeral of the late Archbishop Abel Gabuza will take place as follows:

Date: 22 January 2021
Time: 11 am
Place: Emmanuel Cathedral, Durban

Because it is a Covid-19 case the Order of Service will be adjusted to fit in with the safety protocols. Therefore, there will be a Final Commendation, followed by the burial, then followed by the Requiem Mass in as brief format as possible. The aim is to complete the whole ceremony in an hour and a half.

The number of physical participants will be severely restricted. Only the bishops from the Durban Metropolitan Province who are considered risk-free will attend the funeral. Priests and Religious are also limited to token representatives. Even the Family is restricting its number to one car load. This is to ensure that this funeral does not become a super-spreader.
