Reflection:

The man that is brought to Jesus has a double impediment. He can neither hear nor speak. People
like him are lonely and often isolated. But he has friends that care for him.
The prophet Isaiah in the first reading promises that the waters shall break forth in the wilderness
and the streams in the desert, the burning sand shall become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs
of water.
This represents the healing of the land. This healing of creation finds its fulfilment in the works of
Jesus Christ and the religiously blind will see that creation is God’s gift that we must till and
shepherd (Gen 1:28-30).
