In the light of the current Covid-19 surge and the restrictions imposed by the State President, as well as uncertainty of what will happen later this month the Bishops of the SACBC have decided to hold a virtual Plenary Meeting as opposed to the physical meeting that was anticipated.
The online meeting will take place from 19 – 22 January 2021. The SACBC holds two Plenary Meetings annually, usually one is January and the other one in August.
Another new development is that the installation of Bishop Xolelo Thaddeus Kumalo, the former Bishop of Eshowe, as Bishop of Witbank and the ordination of Bishop-Elect Robert Mphiwe, as Bishop of Rustenburg have been potsponed until further notice. The installation of Bishop Kumalo was planned for the 24th of January and the ordination of Bishop-Elect Mphiwe was planned for the 7th of February 2021.
