SACBC Marriage Awareness Weeks

While the statistics on marriage and family wellness may not be so encouraging nowadays, there are still marriages and families that are a shining example of hope; of what can be achieved. This is despite the problems and challenges they come across. Some marriages though are in trouble, believed to have ended, while some are about to collapse and that goes for families in general too.

As a sign of its firm believe and support of the institution of marriage and family the SACBC’ Marriage and Family Life Office offer their full support to the Marriage Awareness Campaign in the weeks between 22 August to 09 October 2021. The programme is scheduled to run Sundays on Radio Veritas between 1pm and 2pm and Thursdays on SACBC Facebook Live respectively, from 7pm to 8pm.

“No family drops down from heaven perfectly formed; families need constantly to grow and mature in the ability to love.” (Pope Francis, Amoris Laetitia 325) For that same reason the SACBC Marriage and Family Life Office is inviting the engaged, married, divorced and widowed to be part of this grace for guidance, strengthening and healing of relationships and families.

The Awareness Weeks programme will cover themes such as: God’s purpose for marriage; Choosing a right partner; Marriage as between a man and a woman; Marriage as a sacrament and the importance of matrimonial ceremony; Procreation and rearing of children; Reconciliation in marriage; Till death do us part.

The Sunday sessions will focus of Scriptural passages whose reflections and intercessions will be offered by various priests and bishops. The Thursday sessions will be offered by different speakers in different marital statuses and a priest. This awareness will conclude with the celebration of a Holy Mass on the 9th October 2021.

Radio Veritas will have an interview with Bishop Joao Rodriguez, the Liaison Bishop for Marriage and Family Life, on Friday, 20 August 2021, to launch the Marriage Awareness Weeks. The interview will take place at 7:40 am during the Matins Show.
