Peter Henriot, S.J., a Jesuit from United States, is a world renowned scholar on Catholic Social Teaching.  He is an author of numerous and books on Church’s social teaching, socio-economic development and spirituality.  He is particularly famous for the four books: Catholic Social Teaching, Our Best Kept Secret, Pastoral circle revisited: A critical quest for truth and transformation, Social analysis: linking faith and justice, Opting for the poor: the challenge for the Twenty first century.  

In his ministry of faith and justice, he has been instrumental in the establishment and strengthening of various institutions dedicated to the promotion of Catholic Social Teaching.  This includes being a director for the Center for Concern in Washington, which was founded by the United States Catholic Conference and the Society of Jesus to promote the research and advocacy on faith and social issues.   He has also served as the director of Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection in Zambia.   Over and above providing advice to the Catholic bishops in Zambia, he served as a special advisor to AMECEA at the Second synod for Africa in 2009.
