Pope Francis sends two Cardinals to Ukraine

On Sunday 6th March 2022 at the Angelus in St Peter’s Square Pope Francis announced that he has dispatched two Cardinals, Cardinal Konrad Krajewski and Cardinal Michael Czerny, as an expression of the Church’s solidarity with the suffering Ukrainian people.

On the 7th March Cardinal Krajewski departed for the Polish/Ukraine border, where he will
visit refugees and volunteers in shelters and homes. Cardinal Czerny is set to arrive in Hungary on Tuesday 8th March to visit some reception centres for the migrants coming from Ukraine. They are both meant to arrive in Ukraine and if the situation allows they intend to reach the country in the coming days.
