The Holy Father, Pope Francis, has appointed Reverend Father Anthony Pascal Rebello as the new Bishop of Francistown. The diocese has been without a bishop since Bishop Franklyn Nubuasah was transferred to the Diocese of Gaborone on the 6th of June 2019.

The SACBC extents its prayerful congratulations to the faithful of the Diocese of Francistown on the appointment of their new shepherd.

The Holy Father has also granted the title of Archbishop (Archbishop ad personam) to the Most Reverend Franklyn Atese Nubuasah, Bishop of Gaborone, as a recognition for his years of missionary service in Botswana. Although the Diocese of Gaborone remains a Diocese, Archbishop Nubuasah is now the Archbishop of the Diocese.
