Answer us, Lord, for your mercy is kind; in the abundance of your mercies, look upon us. Cf. Ps68.17

Jesus calls the people who seem so unworthy. Our Lenten period has offered us times for repentance, forgiveness, times of reflection on our lives. And in a sense it is a call for us to become a new creation in Christ.
