God is at work all the time: seeing the plight of his suffering people. Sometimes, we may confuse our distance from God, on account of our sins, as God’s distance from us. But God is very near to us. In this favourable time of Lent, we can receive that longed-for mercy, in Word and Sacrament, especially Penance and the Eucharist. If you have been “away”, now is the opportunity to return to God.

I pray to you, O Lord, for a time of your favour. In your great mercy, answer me, O God, with your salvation that never fails. (Ps68:14)
