Just like in the time of Jeremiah and Jesus, God is in control. People who have survived horrible car accidents can also testify that when God is not ready to take you nothing can be ready. People have survived gunshots on their heads. If it is not the will of God then nothing can take you.

Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am in distress. Deliver me from the hands of my enemies and those who pursue me. O Lord, let me never be put to shame, for I call on you. (Ps. 30:10,16,18)
