Bishop Sipuka: Easter is a” time to think and pray about God’s power and presence in our lives”

2 Apr, 2024

In his Easter message, the Local Ordinary of Mthatha Diocese highlights the six weeks of Easter as a “time to think and pray about God’s power and presence in our lives.”

In the Sunday, March 30 message Bishop Sithembele Anton Sipuka says, “The Easter season is extended over six weeks. During the first week, we continue to celebrate the liturgy as if it were Sunday.”

He continues “The rest of the other five weeks are celebrated as a memorial of Easter to enable us to continue to appropriate the power of Easter. We have six weeks of Easter time to think and pray about God’s power and presence in our lives.”

“It is for this reason that the responsorial Psalms of Easter are about giving thanks to God for his love and his power that enables us to achieve so much,” he adds.

Bishop Sipuka also reminds the people of God in Mthatha Diocese and the conference at large that “Easter is meant to create us anew and enable us to do things beyond human ability.”

In the Easter message, Bishop Sipuka talks about “the power of the resurrection,” and the recognition of God’s “divine empowerment” in our lives.
