We must be respectful because it is the right thing to do. We shouldn’t only be nice to other people just so we can expect a reward or expect them to be good to us; we should do it because it is the right thing to do. We are enriched by the experience of respecting others. You recognize the Christ in other persons when you honour their dignity.

“To my words give ear, O Lord; give heed to my sighs. Attend to the sound of my cry, my King and my God.” (Cf. Ps 5: 2-3)
